THE 7 STEPS OF ARTISANAL MANUFACTURING OF OUR SNEAKERS

Promoter of know-how, Le Lissier has chosen artisanal manufacturing for your sneakers. We know you're curious to know more, to discover behind the scenes. This is why we take you to discover the different stages of manufacturing our sneakers.
From the design of the model to the packaging, nothing is left to chance or escapes the eye of the Lissiers.
First of all, we had to think about and draw the models. The important thing for us was to highlight upcycled fabrics, which is why a model was designed for the laces, one for the velcro and one for the slip-ons. It is the same for men and women. We sought simplicity, efficiency and elegance of form above all.
The basis of our sneakers is the fabric that we find. Once the samples have been collected, we test each fabric in modeling on the drawings of our models. Although each pair will be unique depending on the cut of the fabric, it is essential to have an overview before making the choice of fabric.
Once this choice has been made, the actual manufacturing can begin in our partner workshop in Portugal.

Step 1: shape

It constitutes the basis for manufacturing the shoe. It's about giving shape to the design by working on the space of the shoe so that it is as comfortable as possible. The result is a plastic shape (wooden when it is custom-made) which, as soon as it is validated, will be available for each size.

Step 2: patronage

New stage of modeling with the creation of a model on the shape which will allow the installation of the textiles. This is where the locations of seams, perforations for eyelets, etc. are determined.

Step 3: cutting

Once all the models, in 3D and flat, have been created, the stem component can be entrusted to the cutter who will follow the patterns. At Le Lissier, it is one of our exceptional fabrics found in France and high quality Italian cowhide leather.

Step 4: stitching

It is now a matter of assembling the elements which constitute the upper which is the top of the shoe. To do this, we stitch them, that is to say we sew them together. At this stage, we also integrate the buttresses which ensure the support of the upper. The last action is the snap: the assembly of the front and back of the shoe. The stem is ready.

Step 5: assembly

At this point, the rod is applied to the form in order to be shaped. The textiles, leather and fabric, are worked to take the shape of the shape, which is essential for the final aesthetic.

Step 6: display

Also called sole assembly, it is a more than crucial step since it is the one at which the upper and sole are assembled. At Le Lissier, the technique is traditional. The molded natural rubber sole is first glued to attach to the upper (which must be lightly sanded, carded, if leather is the glued part) before the two are sewn together.

Step 7: the finishing touches

This is the final stage of manufacturing which involves cutting off excess threads and excess fabric. Finally, the shoes are “deformed” which here means that they are removed from their shape.

Your pair of upcycled upholstery fabric sneakers is now made. All these manufacturing stages are carried out in the same family workshop near Porto, a region recognized for this specific know-how. It is also in this workshop that the sneakers are boxed. They are then repatriated to France to our logistician near Bordeaux who ensures the supply of points of sale on the one hand, and sending to you on the other hand.

Making a Le Lissier sneaker is a commitment and collaboration at all levels, from design to delivery. We are proud of each of our partners and even more proud to present their work to you.
